Masterclass with trombonist and GYO alumni Raymond Mason

November 7th, 2016, in rehearsal with the Gemini String Orchestra,

Philharmonia, & Youth Symphony

(Concert Winds musicians not in Philharmonia or Youth Symphony are welcome to attend the Philharmonia masterclass at 7-8pm in 601. A masterclass geared at Repertory Orchestra members is forthcoming later in the year.)

Raymond Mason is a NYC based multi-instrumentalist and current trombonist and conductor of Antibalas. Raymond is one of the most in-demand trombonists in music today, having toured with Taylor Swift in support of the release of her album "1989", while simultaneously working with artists such as Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Meghan Trainor, Queen Latifah, The Roots, and many more.  Currently, Raymond plays trombone in the house band for the new NBC show "Maya & Marty" starring Maya Rudolph and Martin Short.  While not on set at 30 Rock, Raymond tours with Warner Brothers recording artist Lukas Graham in the U.S. and has played trombone/keys in the touring band for Mark Ronson since 2015. Raymond can be heard on numerous recordings played on TV and radio world-wide, including the 2016 GRAMMY-Award winning Record of The Year "Uptown Funk" as well as the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's new critically acclaimed Netflix series, "The Get Down".
